Mindful March

I must really say that March has come and gone, quite quickly, but with not so much to tell you about. And looking at last year's post, it seems to be about the same. It must be some blip in the year where the time goes by and you find it difficult to say what you have done- well, I could ramble on about washing windows and keeping H&M in business, but you really don't need to know.

I would like to think that my March has been so mundane for some special cosmic-forces reason, and I say this because according to my Feng Shui chart for the year, this second month of the Chinese year was meant to be a bad one: I have been under strict orders to "beware and be mindful; watch out for dishonest people".

"Feng Shui?!", you might be thinking. "A rational person (or that's what I'd like to think you think of me) such as she, can't possibly follow that?!", but I do! I can honestly say that in the course of my lifetime, auspicious circumstances have arose that have coincided with small changes I have made in my living space. Sometimes these changes have been purposeful, but others that were not thought through, yielded a positive change. Believe if you wish that they weren't causal, but I would like to think that the energies were aligned to help me out, and really get me where I am today.

Getting back to what was foretold to occur in my life: problems were meant to crop up from nowhere due to the misfortune and violent 7 star joining up and there is a high chance of being cheated or mugged. But wait! If you display the 5 Element Pagoda in the Northwest corner of your home and have a blue rhino and elephant charm or painting on display, as well, all will be protected. The 5 Element Pagoda is to combat an unlucky yellow start that I have in my chart where the blue rhino and elephant combat the violent 7 star. I still hear your scepticism, but I have followed this practice for just over 10 years now and I still swear by it. I'm not saying that I am going to cling onto every remedy for every situation that the "experts" serve up, but I do pick and choose based on what I know is coming up in my life and what sounds scary!

For instance, last June the Feng Shui forecast advised I would be prone to accidents in June when I was due to take part in the Three Peaks challenge and a half marathon, but this could be remedied with the 5 Element Pagoda charm. The month before our trek, someone had died on Ben Nevis (they were an idiot and decided to trek with jeans and a t-shirt. They got caught in the rain and died of hypothermia. The mountain is actually not difficult to walk up) so I thought it was wise to see how much one of these 5 Element Pagodas went for: not so much for a little keychain that I keep in my "bag of tricks" (this might be a story for another time). So, I purchased the key chain and completed my trek and half marathon with no problems! Again, I can't say that without the key chain I would have had an accident, but I can say that everything went honky dory whilst carrying it. As well, this little investment is useful again this year beyond only this unlucky month 2 of the Chinese calendar.

Back to this blue rhino and elephant combination, I have noticed that elephants are popular decorative pieces in home shops, but rhinos certainly aren't- especially blue ones. I have again decided to practise this remedy because the threat of theft is thrice fold in my fortune for the year. I'd like to think that I am diligent enough to avoid such actions, but you never know what the person next to you on the train is thinking. I ventured back to the Internet to see what rhinos I could find (that were also somewhat aesthetically pleasing) and found a little charm to put next to a blue glass elephant that a dear friend of mine brought back from the Czech Republic ages ago. So the reason why March has been mundane is possibly because of a 5 Element Pagoda, a little blue rhino, and a little glass elephant. Or perhaps from the lucky mole I have on the right side of my face- apparently moles on the right side of your face are lucky. Or perhaps because I purposefully try not to sit facing NW this year. Or perhaps...

Or really perhaps my rationality and nature have made me a diligent enough person to not walk around in the dark with my phone out and handbag open waiting for some yobbo to come and snatch it.
